Last night was a night to remember — and not just because Andrés Iniesta finally put us all out of our misery to score the winning goal for España in extra time to defeat the Netherlands and end the most boring World Cup final in memory — but rather because, along with 15,000 others I enjoyed a night that musical legends are made of. The Okay Africa World Cup 2010 celebration for Celebrate Brooklyn! at Prospect Park was one for the ages. Headlined by none other than my all time favorite band —The (legendary) Roots with Brooklyn’s own Talib Kweli, Blitz the Ambassador (reppin Ghana all the way), Bajah + The Dry Eye Crew, Zakee, Dragons of Zynth, Super Human Happiness, J. Period all MC’d by Sahr (from FELA!)

![I had a chance to stop by this evening’s Gen Art soirée showcasing the photography of both Susanna Thornton + Daniel Mirer [at] Point of View Gallery in Chelsea with my dear friend + talented photographer Matthew Keefe. Overall, the entire exhibit was well curated—though I believe Mr. Mirer’s work was much stronger. My interpretation of this body of work is that it deals with the voice presented by the graphic saturation of color in sterile, even banal, architectural environments. I found the absence of functionality interesting as well—each composition carefully leaves the viewer both uncertain + unfamiliar with the space as a whole.](http://25.media.tumblr.com/PgYM2ryQg6ff7mvwpAKAUcqB_500.jpg)
